Rate Information and Billing Protocol
Buchanan & Associates ordinarily charges by the hour. Some clients may be charged on a per-project or fixed fee basis where appropriate. Rates for short-term representation, nonprofits and municipal clients are case-specific. Paralegal services are normally billed out at an hourly rate. In almost all cases, a financial deposit on account will be required from new clients to secure Buchanan & Associates' services.
Subcontractors' rates, if any, would be pre-approved by the client and are usually at or below market rates. Clerical support is not billed to clients. On-line research fees are. Only exceptional telephone, courier, photocopying, telecopy, and other office-related expenses are billed to the client. Unless arrangements are made for inclusion in a fixed fee, the client is responsible for costs such as expert witnesses, filing fees, or travel expenses.
